Standard Eligibility Criteria For Tribal Positions

Employment eligibility criteria for most positions with the Bishop Paiute Tribe includes; Criminal Background Checks and Clearance, Valid Driver’s License and Insurability with the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Insurance. Submit and pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen. Additional requirements may apply to specific positions in accordance with applicable Laws, Regulations, and Funding Agency requirements and may include; Education Verification, Individual Credit Checks, TB Test, Physical Examinations, Fit-For-Duty Tests, etc. Employment Applications must be completed in full and submitted by the deadline date with appropriate documentation in order to be considered for the position.

Indian Preference: Native American Indian preference shall apply pursuant to the prevailing Bishop Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance and the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (24 U.S.C. 450, et seq,) 25 CFR 271.44 and other relevant laws.

The Recordkeeper I provides assistance to the Fiscal Department by performing the electronic and physical filing duties as well as other clerical duties as time allows. The Fiscal office has access to highly confidential material. This position must always maintain confidentiality, both during and after employment.

Department: Information Technology

Responsible for maintaining computer systems, troubleshooting internal system errors, maintaining internet connectivity, running diagnostic tests, maintaining service, and repairing computer hardware. Duties include installing software patches, repairing common computer problems, monitoring internal networks, and repairing server errors. the Information Technician is also responsible for resolving hard disk failures, configuring software and drivers, and performing regular system upgrades and backups.

Enterprise Accountant – $59,513.00 – $83,319.00 DOQ

Department: Fiscal

Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Enterprise Accountant will post all financial activity for the gas stations. They will also post accounts receivable charges or payments to customer accounts, including any corrections. Review and set up new customer accounts.

TERO Compliance Officer – $23.60 – $30.68 Hour ($49,088.00 – $63,814.40) DOQ

Department:Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO)

The TERO Compliance Officer is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). Work closely with contractors and sub-contractors on all Construction projects within the boundaries of the Bishop Paiute Reservation to meet the mandates of TERO.

Food Sovereignty Specialist – $16.12 – $20.96 Hourly ($33,529.60 – $38,559.04) DOQ

Department: Food Sovereignty Program

Management of this program will include initiating a sustainable and environmentally friendly food farm, launching a farmers’ market, supervising program laborers, providing educational outreach to community growers, and working to secure funding to continue the Food Sovereignty Program. The main priorities of the program will be propagation of fruits and vegetables in a sustainable manner that is environmentally responsible and allows for distribution to the community along with economic development opportunities. The applicant must demonstrate the potential to succeed in the job and the ability to complete on- the-job training.

Chief Financial Officer- $90,511.00-$126,716.00 DOQ

Department: Fiscal

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the accounting operations of the Bishop Paiute Tribe including the day-to-day supervision of fiscal department staff. The CFO will help to set the Tribe’s financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in the development of the Tribe’s overall organizational strategy. The CFO will lead all financial administration and budgeting. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will work closely with other tribal executive officers to plan and achieve the mission and goals established by the Bishop Paiute Tribal Council.

Grants Administrator – $68,440.00-$95,816.00 Salary

Department: Fiscal

Under the direction of the Controller, or designee, the Grants Administrator provides technical accounting, budget and other administrative support for contract and grant programs of the Bishop Paiute Tribe, including monitoring, tracking, and maintaining current draw down of funds. Prepare/track required internal and external administrative and financial reports.

 Under general supervision of the Teacher, assists with providing daily early childhood development lessons and services in an engaging, safe and supervised educational environment for preschool children.

Tutor II – Pay Grade: $17.73-$23.05 Hourly DOQ

Department: Education

Under the supervision of the Tutor Coordinator, the Tutor will provide individualized and
small groups assistance to the Native American students at the Bishop Indian Education Center (BIEC).
Provide tutorial assistance to students in the areas of mathematics, English Language Arts (ELA), reading and other areas of study pertinent to the academic achievement of BIEC participants.

Deli Manager – $19.57-$27.40 Hourly

Department: Yuhubi Nobi Gas Station and Market

To Manage the daily operations of the Yuhubi Nobi Deli. To inspect food quality, preparation, and food safety practices offering high quality food products and service. To manage and provide excellent and professional customer service to all customers. To direct deli staff, perform on-the-job training, as needed, and coordinate daily sanitation and time management practices.

Tribal Police Lieutenant performs a variety of administrative and professional work in assuring compliance with Tribal, State and Federal Laws. Tribal Police Lieutenant assists with supervising Tribal Police Officers and Staff. This position becomes Interim Chief when the Tribal Police Chief is absent.
