Standard Eligibility Criteria For Tribal Positions

Employment eligibility criteria for most positions with the Bishop Paiute Tribe includes; Criminal Background Checks and Clearance, Valid Driver’s License and Insurability with the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Insurance. Submit and pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen. Additional requirements may apply to specific positions in accordance with applicable Laws, Regulations, and Funding Agency requirements and may include; Education Verification, Individual Credit Checks, TB Test, Physical Examinations, Fit-For-Duty Tests, etc. Employment Applications must be completed in full and submitted by the deadline date with appropriate documentation in order to be considered for the position.

Indian Preference: Native American Indian preference shall apply pursuant to the prevailing Bishop Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance and the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (24 U.S.C. 450, et seq,) 25 CFR 271.44 and other relevant laws.

Under the direction of the Bishop Paiute Tribal Council, the CEO is expected to lead and motivate the Bishop Paiute Tribe staff to a high level of performance and facilitate organizational change and growth in a positive manner. The position is responsible for all aspects of Tribal Administration and Tribal management activities, including executing and monitoring the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Strategic Plan. Chief Operations Officer (COO)- $119,909-$179,864 DOQ

Accomplishes the Tribe’s strategic objectives by assisting in the planning, directing, monitoring, and evaluating of administrative and operational functions. Manages and handles the daily business operations of the Bishop Paiute Tribe, working closely with department heads and supervisors to support the day-to-day activity of employees.

Chief Financial Officer- $99,924.00 – $149,886.00 DOQ

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the accounting operations of the Bishop Paiute Tribe including the day-to-day supervision of fiscal department staff. The CFO will help to set the Tribe’s financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in the development of the Tribe’s overall organizational strategy. The CFO will lead all financial administration and budgeting. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will work closely with other tribal executive officers to plan and achieve the mission and goals established by the Bishop Paiute Tribal Council. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Department: Food Sovereignty Program

Management of this program will include initiating a sustainable and environmentally friendly food farm, launching a farmers’ market, supervising program laborers, providing educational outreach to community growers, and working to secure funding to continue the Food Sovereignty Program. The main priorities of the program will be propagation of fruits and vegetables in a sustainable manner that is environmentally responsible and allows for distribution to the community along with economic development opportunities. Under the direction of the Tribal Court Administrator the Deputy Clerk will be responsible for the processing and maintaining legal pleadings and records filed in the Tribal Court and the Tribal Court of Appeals. This position will be responsible for maintaining the Tribal Court and Court of Appeals calendars and all operations related to court hearings and procedures. Tribal Deputy Clerk will assist the Tribal Court Administrator in long-term planning and budget administration.

This position will assist customers in purchasing products, develop customer connections, and maintain a positive attitude with every customer. The Attendant/Cashier assists the Manager in operations of the store, and ensures a safe, customer-focused environment. This position will maintain the fuel pump area and keep a clean facility both inside and outside.

Department: Yuhubi Nobi Gas Station and Market

To Manage the daily operations of the Yuhubi Nobi Deli. To inspect food quality, preparation, and food safety practices offering high quality food products and service. To manage and provide excellent and professional customer service to all customers. To direct deli staff, perform on-the-job training, as needed, and coordinate daily sanitation and time management practices. To provide efficient and accurate cash register transactions. To manage and be in a charge of meat department inventory and food costs. To develop and update policies and procedures. Works in conjunction with other Gas Station Deli staff with the daily operation of the Deli in a team environment. The Natural Resource Tribal Conservation Corps Foreman (TCC Foreman) performs a variety of specialized tasks; leads and recruits the Tribal Conservation Crew in various projects with an emphasis in Defensible Space and Conservation, including, but not limited to, landscaping, removal of vegetation, fire fuel load reduction, vegetation monitoring, hazardous weather response and restoration, solid waste removal, Collaboration with Forest Service, BLM, Fish and Wildlife and other Tribal Departments on projects on and off the Reservation as directed.
